The winery industry “Hatzyvaritis S.A.” in Goumenissa, Kilkis
Date: March 2010
A contemporary vineyard located in Northern Greece, also built for the purpose of agrotourism. The owners have created a comprehensive unit producing grapes, wine and its bottling, with quality, the adoption of organic cultivating principles and the education of the vineyard’s guests regarding the process of making wine being their main concern.
The objective of this project was to create a landscape development concept around with a feeling of harmony between the newly created planting composition and the natural surroundings of the extended vineyards. This was achieved by designing an ergonomic communication system with parking, a network of paths and an aromatic garden.
Pathways and combinations of plants between large surfaces of low aromatic shrubs pique the visitors’ interest to stroll through the estate and become familiar with the endemic plants to the area’s flora.
Finally, the correct placing of trees and shrubs serves to reinforce the visual lines of the broader farmlands and the vineyard in particular.
